The fiery inferno of August 8, 2023 tore through Lahainatown, driven by whipping winds. The path of destruction left some homes and buildings untouched, while others were reduced to ash.
After hazardous chemicals were removed, residents and owners were permitted to return to their properties. Some to sift for any tokens from their former sanctuaries, others to grieve and say good-bye.
